Here are some specific examples of the ways in which you can place images in your posts. These work for basically any online forum.
First assumes you upload your image into our free gallery:
1) Use the BB code string that appears under your uploaded image in your gallery. (Note this even works if you post in other forums.) It will give you thumbnail that is clickable and takes you to the "normal" sized image in your gallery. Here I embeded the BB code link that shows in the gallery under the image and get this:
Second assumes you used our gallery OR have your image already uploaded on another server somewhere:
2) Use the embed image HTML code. Here you can use the the standard HTML code for embedding images of,
{IMG}image_url_from_forum_link_always_ending_in_.j pg{/IMG} only using the solid square brackets (Can't show them here as it thinks it's real code). Using the "Add Picture Icon" in the editing menu above (the little mountain with sun in it icon) will add the proper code automatically and all you need to add is the image URL. Note that an image URL always ends in .jpg, so it is NOT the same as the URL at the top of the page, but rather points to the exact location on the server where the image is stored. In our gallery, it is shown as a string below your image. Here is the string from below my "normal image:
I had uploaded a 1200 pixel image of my bag originally, and the gallery normal resized that to 900 pixels wide. (Edit: This has changed so the default size is 1200 pixels, not 900. If you load anything larger, you will the full sized image, a 1200 pixel version and the thumbnail.) If I click one more time on that image in the gallery, I get to my full 1200 pixel size image, and the string below it is now operational for embedding the full image:
The main advantage of either of these methods over the simpler attatchment, is you can place the image directly in your post, between words or paragraphs, and not just all at the end of your thread
Third option is using the attachment option:
Finally, you can simply add your image as an attatchement directly from your computer or some other location using the "manage attatchments" dialog, or by using the paper clip icon in the edit menu, and your image will automatically be added at the end of your post, but before a personalized signature as shown below. Attached images are limited to 1200 pixels high by 1200 pix wide, and will be sized to that if larger. They will show as 300 pixel thumbs just as below, which need to be clicked to expand. Depending on the browser being used, the expanded image may show a little plus sign, which means the browser has auto-sized it for your window and another click is required to get it to full size.
Bottom line is you have several options for embedding/loading images in your thread
IMPORTANT!: Note that you should always tag your image with the sRGB profile BEFORE uploading or attaching it to a web thread, otherwise the colors may not appear correctly!
Cheers,
