Michiel and Vivek, congrats!
Got mine yesterday from K-E in Capelle. Didn't get to spend much time with it yet, but so far I'm impressed. IQ looks familiar to my A900, the NEX 7 feels more solid than the 5n and Tri-Navi is brilliant.

Carlos: I read your first impressions, and tried to leave you a note on your web site, but I could not read the anti spam words correctly (I tried 4 times). At any rate here is what I tried to post:

Carlos: We have never met, or corresponded, but I really appreciate your first impressions; VERY valuable insight for me. I also pre-ordered an NEX 7 with kit lens (it is not here yet). In preparation, I slowly accumulated several NEX lenses: the 24mm f1.8 Zeiss, 55-210 stabilized lens, the 16mm "pancake" and the 30mm Macro. I also got Fotodiox adapters for Contax/Zeiss, Leica R, Leica M, Nikon F, and Pentax M42. I'm 74 yrs old and have an extensive collection of legacy bodies and lenses. I have not been able to get a NEX to Topcon adapter, The one I purchased will adapt old Exakta/Topcon, but not the newer Topcons. This is a pity, as I have some pristine Topcon glass: 50 mm f1.4, 28mm, 135mm with beautiful telescoping lens hood, and the tiny magnificent 100mm f2.8
Thanks again for your insight, and Happy New Year.

Thanks, Peter. We got lucky. KE does list it for a higher price though, don't they?

Just dusting up some adapters and charging the batteries..:)

Peter, I look forward to you some of your photos with your new 7!

Gurtch: Thanks for the kind words. Sorry about the CAPTCHA on the reply system, but if I did not have it there I would have 70 zillion posts advertising Viagra, Cialis, Russian Mail-order brides and heaven knows what else.

I would contact Fotodiox (probably next week as the rest of this week is pretty much useless) and request that newer Topcon adapter. Heck, they make every other kind of adapter, why not that one?

Yes, I paid their premium price of €1249 but they have this 5 year extended guaranty offer now and the lowest price I could find was €1199, but those weren't in stock. I figured that the guaranty would add to the resale value. As happy as I am now, I can't imagine that I'll be shooting the NEX 7 in say 2 years from now…

Hope to shoot some images today. Should this forum open a dedicated NEX 7 image thread?

That's what this thread is all about Peter!
Ah, okay :)

Last week I moved from Amsterdam to a remote rural area in the nothwest of the country.
The delivery of my NEX 7 was very late because during the holiday season there's only one mailman for the large under populated district were I live now. Anyway, when my camera finaly arrived it was already late in the afternoon but I just had to get out to take some test shots. There I was happily shooting away, when I realised I had lost my glove. Since I'm in a wheelchair, I couldn't pick it up myself. Had to wait 15 minutes in the near dark. Then a farmer passed by and kindly handed it to me.

Congrats with your camera, too.:)
That must have been a drag because the weather was not peticularly pleasant yesterday evening. Hagel en wind :( Veel plezier vandaag!

Alright, opened the nice box and started using it right away. Sony did supply it with a body-cap , a rubber eye cup for the EVF and a strap (plus the usual plugs, CD, manuals..).

Just clocked a whopping two snaps with an Olympus pen F 40/1.4. Shutter operation is just so smooth and amazing (better than the Samsung NX10 and several orders of magnitudes better than the shotgun shutter of NEX-5). I will post pictures later when I get more time.

At this point, I have not had a chance to fully figure out the functions, menu and all that but being usable as it is (only past experience is a Nex-5), all I can say is- WOW!

Never been this excited since I first started using the Panasonic G1 when that debuted.

Fabulous and a  to Sony!

I openend mine last night as well.
Like others it will definitely take some time to figure out my customization.
The tri-navi dials at the top are very nice.
It was asked if the level fully functions in portrait mode - yes it rotates (very nice touch)
Actually smaller than I expected.

For others in the US.....what was on the CD that you got? My camera might actually have been destined for Europe as I ended up downloading the GB manual and all of versions seemed to be for Europe.

This is going to be a fun weekend although the only lens I have with me until Sunday is the 16mm.

Thanks Michiel, today the weather wasn't so bad, lots of light. Under these shooting conditions the NEX 7 provides lots of detail, see crop.

Though no pictures, I can report here on a few lenses:

1. Olympus Pen F 40/1.4. Stopped down to f/2 is very very sharp and contrasty. Better than the one below.

2. Minolta Rokkor 40/2 Alright. Less contrasty than the pen F and also less sharp. Needs to go to around f/4.

3. Canon 50/0.95. Despite the bulky package, it is a joy to use on the NEX-7. By f/1.4, it is already very, very nice. Worth the weight to carry if one has it.

4. Olympus Pen F 38/2.8 pancake. Never that stellar. So, no surprises. I would still prefer to have it for street shooting.

5. Robot CZJ Tessar 3cm f/2.8. I have some attachment to this lens due to its beautiful construction and it being tiny. It behaves as expected. Easy to flare and OK images.

I have about 8 or 9 other Olympus Pen F lenses, a few c-mount lenses, another Robot lens, etc, etc totaling > 100 to play around with. ;)

I have not brought myself to even mount the 16mm on the NEX-7. Probably won't for a long time.

Peter, Nice example. Today was much better than the miserable weather we had. I might buy the Sony 30/3.5 just because it is so inexpensive here.
