Really, Really Struggling with Focusing Manually - A7RII

K-H, how fast is the autofocus speed? I mean, say in comparison to one of your autofocus Sony lenses? I've heard from another friend this adapter works but is pretty slow and very expensive. Love to hear your thoughts on it.

Really, Really Struggling with Focusing Manually - A7RII

My main lens, the one I use for probably 85% of my personal as well as paid work, is a Leica 35mm pre ASPH type III 'Cron on my a7R & a7S Sony bodies. Mine was made in 1974 or 1975 as I recall. I wouldn't trade my 'Cron for a whole kit of new autofocus Sony glass. Not that there is anything...

    I Just Assassinated My A7S!

It will be interesting to see what, if any, changes Sony makes with the new firmware updates we know are coming to implement the uncompressed RAW files. They also surely know users want to open up the HDMI to 10 bit at the same time, and want 4:2:2. You just never know, eh? Got my fingers...

    I Just Assassinated My A7S!

Well, I guess it is all a matter of perspective and needs. If 1080P is all you need, the internal recording option on the a7S does a decent job. If your after all you can get, another $1,300 for a full 4k capability that doesn't overheat after just a few mins is probably worth it. When you...

    A7sII

Bob, I think you nailed it. Nobody has said anything yet as no cameras have shipped yet, but my money is down on the same internal over heating problems for anything but short clips the A7R II suffers from. The A7S II is basically the same sensor let's not forget that ran too hot in the...

    I Just Assassinated My A7S!

Something tells me this new Ninja Assassin is going to be a must have in a lot of A7S/A7RII shooting Pro's bags. :toocool: I Just Assassinated My A7S - Atomos Ninja Assassin First Look - The Camera Forum®

    An interesting Review of a7rII

I have to agree with you Guy, this camera release was a strange one indeed, even for Sony. ReviewMania, at its best? I haven't fully decided where I come down on the A7RII camera yet because I haven't done more than hold one. I didn't even fire the shutter. I can say the grip is more...

Best SW for sharpening less than ideal lens?

I agree, all of these are decent, but the best I have found is http://www.iridientdigital.com Brian has some kind of a custom sharpening algorithm that I can't beat in anything else.

    VENUS UWA MACRO

Carlos, I hope your having better luck with that than I am. Their website/email system seems to have been built and run by Trolls in TrollHattan! I'm looking forward to testing this lens, as the 15mm Voigtländer did nothing for me.

    Pre Order

You and I both know you will never see that. It would be almost like Tiger Woods coming out and saying Titleist Golf Balls smell like stinky rubber or some such :ROTFL:

    Pre Order

John, I am probably the WORST person on the planet to even ask that question of, as I use manual focus almost all of the time. I only own one autofocus lens on the Sony mount in fact, though I am adding the two Batis if I can swing the budget next month. That said, reports I am getting from...

    Pre Order

The closest thing I know of in the way of an honest "review" is what Brian Smith wrote up as his Field Test trial here: http://briansmith.com/field-test-sony-a7rii/ Full disclosure, Brian is a Sony Artisan of Imagery, so he is compensated by Sony to use and write about their products. But...

    Pre Order

+1 for me this time around as well. I like everything I'm seeing about the A7RII, EXCEPT the price. Sony sure is proud of this puppy, eh? I'm not an early buyer this time either until I actually use one. Will one of you early buyers please have a close look when you get yours, and see...

When a 3% pincussion makes you a "serious shooter"..

I have no idea about the Zeiss or Tamron thing, though again I will say these Batis are right up there build quality wise with the OTUS, just a whole lot lighter and smaller. At about one third the cost! Fastest autofocus lenses I've had on my A7S too, so that lighter glass seems to assist...

When a 3% pincussion makes you a "serious shooter"..

I only own one Sony autofocus Zeiss lens, the 55mm f/1.8. I've passed on any of the others, preferring to stick with my older glass with more "juice." I still own and use the 28mm Hollywood Distagon, which works on everything, including my Sony bodies. The Batis lenses are both excellent...
