    Leica S007 compressed DNG files ?

    The S2 had an option for compressed or uncompressed DNG files. This led to confusion as many thought that the uncompressed files offered better quality, which was not true. The compression used in the S2 and S006 is lossless. This is easily tested by looking at the file sizes of compressed...

    Leica SL vs S IQ

    Between early testing and some further photo trips, I've racked up over 10,000 exposures with the S007. I used the S2 since it was in beta, then later the S006 as my go-to camera system. Basically, I've been an avid S user from the beginning. I had the opportunity to shoot for few days in...

    S006 -> s007

    Great images! The interior of the salt mine is brilliant. I see that you favor my preferred two lens setup: 45 and 120. Always a good choice. :thumbup:

    My sort of S-007 review..

    It was brought to my attention on other forums that many were seeing overly saturated images in my review and field report. Turns out my web publishing software had been updated to use a resizing software library that was dropping the ICC profile for the resized inline images in the article...

    My sort of S-007 review..

    Stuart, believe me, I thought about giving you a ring. Going it alone was tough at times. Unfortunately, at the time, I wasn't permitted to tell anyone I had the camera. Iceland was such an incredible place, though. I'm sure I'll be back in the not-to-distant future and we can get together then!

    With the Maestro II processor, the refresh rate is 60 fps, which results in very smooth, lag-free live view. The LV on the S007 is particularly smooth, with no redrawing necessary as you scroll around the image at 100%. Exposure simulation is also instantaneous. In low light, LV still works...

    Misinformation does no one any good. Let me clarify: The sensor in the S007 is the same Leica/CMOSIS architecture as the one in the M240, manufactured by ST Micro. It features updated D/A electronics, new readout hardware and new algorithms in the Maestro II image processing engine. The base...

    My sort of S-007 review..

    I'm currently working on wrapping up my in-depth review on the S007. I took the camera to Iceland for nine days and also did some low-light street photography in NYC and Miami, as well as a tabletop still life for ISO comparisons. Stay tuned. Oh, and I didn't baby it....

    I actually meant the question a bit more literally. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I wasn't suggesting you go for a Q, just asking if you had a chance to look at the viewfinder in person. Leica's EVF on the Q is the highest resolving in the industry at 3.7 million dots, and it looks incredible...

    You are correct that the S cannot be mounted like a MFDB to test the theory. But, with Leica's recent acquisition of Sinar, you never know what the future holds.... ;)

    The CMOSIS chip doesn't use angled microlenses. Leica previously employed offset microlenses on the M8 and M9. The CMOSIS chip changes the basic microlens shape from a flattened droplet to a conical peak. This catches the light at oblique angles and directs it down, without impeding light...

    Leica S (007) starts career at significantly lower price...

    Interestingly, the Leica/CMOSIS designed sensor in the Leica S007 is based off of the same architecture as that in the M240. Leica has solved the issue of incident angle by utilizing a newly designed conical microlens shape along with the thinnest CMOS sensor on the market. While S lenses are...
