    Which Hasselblad should I buy?

I’d wait a bit personally. Seems a new X2DII is coming with AF improvements that could be meaningful for portrait photography. Even if you don’t want/need the latest and greatest, it should drive prices of existing models down at least to a degree. Yes there’s always “something new” around the...

Multi Row Panoramas. Biggest issue is D.O.F.

Just skimming this but if you’re doing f11-f16, could you be running into diffraction issues? A lot of lenses I used in the past hit a point of diminishing returns beyond f11. I found too where you focus is important. I’ve done stitched panos with rotational means (using a rail and finding the...

Long live technical cameras and digital view cameras!

yep im not holding my breath. I’m not in the market in the near future anyway, but in a year or two I’ll be curious to see what the market looks like. the boot up time never bothered me. I just got in the habit of pressing the power button as soon as I opened the carry case. by the time I had...

Long live technical cameras and digital view cameras!

My only hope for the IQ5 is for it to arrive and drive down IQ4 prices :) The Alpa system I had was incredibly powerful, compact, and easy to carry around. Took awhile to source all the parts used to save money but it can be done.

    Hasselblad X2DII

A 75-150 zoom and T/S lenses are high up on my wishlist. Feature-wise, the X2DII could hit the nail on the head for me.

    Hasselblad X2DII

Yeah it was kinda a complaint from everyone. It was found at some point even on the OG X1D you could use the 1/8” mic input to trigger the shutter. They had a shutter release even, I lost track though and don’t know if that still carried over to the X2D. I just got so used to using the built in...

Tariffs and the future of MFD

yeah my understanding as well was that they were already using it for industrial purposes. There’s a monochrome version too IIRC. It’s a shame it’s either 40x54 or bust with BSI and P1 when it comes to our uses.

Dealing with UPS and a warning about sending cameras to the USA

IMHO HB should take care of it with UPS. HB should have insurance to cover events like this and should take care of it for you. Whenever I had to ship items to HB to be serviced, I was always on the hook for shipping getting it to them. It would be reasonable to expect them to be on the hook for...

Dealing with UPS and a warning about sending cameras to the USA

it depends on where you live. FedEx is by far the worst around me. It’s even made the local news how bad the local distribution center is. unfortunately, regardless of carrier used, s**t happens.

    Hasselblad Composer Tool

Very cool @mristuccia ! I currently don’t have a HB but if I get another one I’ll be sure to check it out. Frame averaging on the IQ4 is such an awesome feature, I wish HB would implement the same in camera. Thanks for providing this!

Tariffs and the future of MFD

if you’re looking at buying a new M11M and lenses, I’d buy now…..or buy a used one sooner rather than later. Tariffs or not Leica isn’t shy about raising prices periodically anyway. I imagine bodies would be more affected than most lenses but am certainly no expert. I really miss the M10M I had...

Tariffs and the future of MFD

Discussing politics behind the tariffs is definitely going a little too far in a photographic forum, don’t you think? and seriously…..the national debt? Are there not other ways the US could address this? And the justification the White House is putting forth is “trillions invested in the US”...

Tariffs and the future of MFD

was that directed at me or just venting in general?

Tariffs and the future of MFD

Agreed, but when we’ve got thread here titled “tariffs and….” It’s nearly impossible to discuss tariffs without getting political to some degree.

    Hasselblad 100C and 35XL

trifecta could also refer to just X/V/H. Marketing in MFD world is to be taken with a grain of salt anyway. P1 advertising an “infinity platform” and “bespoke photography” was a joke. for me, if I were to get a CFV100, I’d also use it on the 907x body and PDAF is a must for my uses. P1 lacks it...

Tariffs and the future of MFD

havent been silent here but that only goes so far. Had a local politician that was running for office this session call my family and I communists while we were walking down our street (in front of my 6yo and 4yo sons) simply because we politely declined an uninvited invite to a Republican...

Tariffs and the future of MFD

I could be mis-remembering but I seem to remember last time tariffs were put in place, prices of Leica and Rodenstock, etc. went up and didn't come back down. Won't bode well for me looking to get back into Leica, Alpa, P1, HB, Rodenstock, etc. if we see prices go up significantly again. I...

    Hasselblad 100C and 35XL

Years ago when the H6 came out I got with my HB rep about testing the H6D100 back on a tech cam. After getting with HB support and buying the necessary accessories and stuff to be able to power the back and trigger it, the rep ghosted me. Since then HB gave me the impression they weren't...

    FS: Phase One Kit (IQ4, IQ4 A, IQ3, WRS, 90mm, XF, 150mm 2.8 BR, 35mm 3.5 BR)

Man that’s a helluva kit, GLWS. I miss having an IQ4 150A especially.

Panoramic Images with the IQ4 while on the Field?

If budget allows, the Alpa system is fantastic for panos. I used the STC and multi shot panos were a piece of cake with it. You can use the gearing for precise movements, or there’s a little switch you can flip to unlock the gear and freely move it left/right from center with ease until you lock...
