Tim, now I'm curious. I guess I'm not a sophisticated enough lens tester to find the mid-field weakness. I've taken some well focused images with lots of detail and am checking all around the images at 100% looking for the weakness and can't seem to find it. Would it only manifest in certain...

I find this comment by Lloyd to be a little strange based on my limited experience. I took a couple shots of a building from quite a distance on Friday pretty quickly and when I got home realized that I had forgotten to stop down from F 2.0. Now this was not a flat field scene, so no comment on...

Pradeep, I posted these in another forum and thought you might want to see the set up:

I use the Sony iPhone app for a wireless release. Very discrete if that's what you're looking for. Back to the plate - it's rated for up to 1 lb. and the RX1Rii with battery and card is 1.12 lbs., but it feels super secure and knowing the RRS guys, they err on the conservative side by more than 12%

Pradeep, It turns out that the RRS BPnS bidirectional plate for point and shoot works great on my new RX1Rii: RRS - Bidirectional plate for Point-n-Shoot I originally got it for my RX 100 and thought I would try it when I tested my RX1Rii lens on my tripod. I was surprised how well it worked...

Just so everyone is clear, I was suggesting setting "Display Quality" to "Standard" rather than "High." This is the default setting and different than turning down the LCD brightness. When I first got my A7R, I changed to "High" thinking "High" is better than Standard. But, whatever gains there...

Maybe somebody said it already, but turning on airplane mode (i.e., turning off WiFi) and having LCD set to standard are both settings that significantly improve battery life.

I hesitated to touch this one, because the protective filter or not is one of the most commonly debated questions on photography forums, but I'll give you my opinion anyway. On my RX1Rii, I'm going with a Zeiss T star coated clear UV filter and no hood for everyday use. On days when I'm going...

Here's a boring question. What are those of you who just bought this camera or who have it on order doing for LCD screen protectors?

If Sony and C1 are working so closely together, why do you think the default C1 sharpening settings are so far from the mark?

Question regarding the various comments on sharpening. Is the 300/ .6/ .6 setting in ACR or Capture One? If in Capture One, I'm surprised that the RX1Rii raw files are supported so quickly.

This surprises me. Looking at the photos in the image thread here and on FM and having used an RX1 for 4 days myself, there is no question in my mind as to how good this lens is.

I actually prefer the "minor reviews" from forum members here and on FM. :D Although with respect to the RX1Rii, considering the proven sensor and proven lens, I don't need any reviews - I'd rather review it for myself. And as far as waiting, I've been waiting for this camera for 18 months...

I prefer to order from my local bricks and mortar store too, especially if I have actually gone into the store and handled equipment before I have decided to buy it. It's only fair to buy from them in that situation. However if I decide to buy something without any information from or handling...

Are you able to tell whether it's struggling with the resolution as opposed to being slightly misfocused. A lot of early users of the RX1 thought their lenses were slightly soft when relying on autofocus, but when they tried manually focusing using magnified view found there was no problem. I'd...

If you want to get comfortable with your decision to get this camera for landscapes, look at the RX1(R) image thread on Fred Miranda. Ronny Olson's Iceland images are among the many spectacular images in the thread.

Yes, this tells us several things. 1. If you're looking for a tool for fine art photography or other close range flat field photography, the RX1 isn't it. Of course, the lens designers could have corrected for this, but any such corrections would have probably had negative effects on other...

Wow, the highlight recovery tool in the latest version of C1 is very much improved. Very natural looking image even after lots of highlight recovery.

Here's a LL article on a workflow that combines C1 and Lightroom. You might find this helpful, but I don't use Lightroom so can't comment. A Workflow Combining Capture One and Lightroom
