The adapter has arrived
My adapter came this evening. I haven't had time to do anything with it yet, but I was asked to post a couple of pics of it when I got it. So (hopefully), here they are. Sorry for the lousy quality. I was in a hurry.

Quick shot
Sorry I don't have something more interesting, but I wanted to take a shot of something with the Summicron 50, so my guitars volunteered to pose for me. This was a 6 second exposure at f/16. The weather should be nice here tomorrow so I should be able to get out and get something a little more interesting.

Oh! You lucky thing! I'm jealous.
looks as though it works okay, how far can you stop down and still focus easily? |

Re: The adapter has arrived
May I ask (I'm totally ignorant about 4/3 cameras) if this adapter lets you use Leica M lenses on the G1? Is there any focus indicator or fully manual? Can I use my 75mm Lux on this? Where do I go to buy an adapter? Wow so many question and yet I have a dozen more if you guys would oblige me. Thanks.

Last one for today
I got a little help from the wife and took a quick flower shot with the G1 and Summicron. This will have to do for today, it's time for this old guy to hit the sack. Looking forward to shooting with the M glass tomorrow.

Re: The adapter has arrived
Bill, Thanks for the pics of the adapter! The rear side shows that this is a high quality adapter (I have not seen the Novoflex one). That little black disc (thin aluminum or plastic?) is very very important and takes care of the shiny metal parts (RF coupling and other bits) and the reflections thereof from the Leica mount lenses (this is a major headache leading to loss of contrast and even occasional color fringing and the like).
Your test shots already illustrate that it is a good one! ![]() Oh, another aspect of the rear ring is that it addresses the compatibility question of Leica lenses. If a lens fits the adapter then it won't cause any troubles with the G1's shutter! ![]() Clever design!

Very nice shots Bill. How do the G1/Summicron files look compared to the M8/Summicron?

One from lunch time
I'm at the office now and don't want to post much until I can get home and see things on a better monitor. However, I kind of liked this shot, so here goes nothing. This was with the Summicron at f/2.

Re: The adapter has arrived
Bill, you have to stop torturing those of us who don't have the adapter yet! Nice separation.
I just realised that you are in Tokyo no wonder you managed to get the Rayqual so quickly. I emailed them but have not heard from them. |

Re: The adapter has arrived
Bill. I just heard back from Stephen Gandy and he'll only get his stock in late January! Argh... Is there any where else one can get hold of an adapter? I'm in Singapore so it make no difference if it is shipped from Japan or Hong Kong or USA.

Re: The adapter has arrived
Hi, Just for info, my m23/M adapter (product code MFT/LEM) arrived from Novoflex yesterday. It doesn't seem to be on their web site yet but you can order it by email from service@novoflex.com or by phone or fax to Tel.: 08331/88888 Fax: 08331/47174. The contact person I dealt with was Lydia Ernst. I don't know if she speaks English since I communicated in German.
Unfortunately no time to play until the weekend! Martin |

Re: The adapter has arrived
Hey Martin. Thanks for the heads up.
Just to confirm, this is the adapter for using Leica M lenses on the G1 right? May I ask how much is Novoflex selling this? Thanks. Please email me if you do not want to post the price you paid. henry.h.c.goh (at) gmail.com Last edited by Henry Goh; 18th December 2008 at 06:36. Reason: added email |

Re: OK, just one more!
Bill, Thanks for the nice shots. I have the CV 75 and that is one of the first I wanted to try on the G1 so this was a great preview. Is it difficult to focus the longer focal lengths without OIS or were you using a tripod?

Re: The adapter has arrived
Sorry for the info duplication. Lydia at Novoflex said she had sent two to Speed Graphic and there are three people waiting for them there (4 now); looks like you have a 2/3 chance of being the lucky one! Lydia also said she is sending more out today.

Surface mail's about 6 weeks, LOL. If it's air, should be with you any day unless US customs are sitting on it.

The CV 75mm f/2.5 Color Heliar is one of Cosina Voigtlander's "sleeper" lenses. High quality at a low price. Take a look at Sean Reid's review of the 75mm RF lenses for details. On the G1 this lens becomes a 150mm f/2.5. I'm encouraged by Bill's nice image wiith this lens on the G1. Here is a sample image taken with the CV 75 on my M8 Regards, Carl |

It became real obvious with the 75 how shaky I am (explains a lot of the motion blur I have been getting lately - must be old age ), but that shot was hand held. It is very easy to focus with the G1. Much easier than the M8, at least for me. Bill |

Here's another shot with the Heliar, with some bokeh.

Re: Color-heliar 75
Fantastic shots, Bill. I also have the CV75/2.5. The reason I bought the G1 was exactly to be able to use the M lenses with a bit more tele reach as well as having a good camera for those lazy days when I want to take a zoom. I think (and my bank balance hopes!) that with the M8, G1 and DLux4 there will be no reason to buy another camera ever again

Re: The adapter has arrived
Can you please post FULL SIZE raw and jpeg samples of your great Leica Lenses on Panasonic G1?
By posting a 1mp sample means nothing about image quality Very easily a crap lens could be good at 1mp! PLEASE FULL SIZE! |

Re: Color-heliar 75
Bill, that's a lovely shot, but, there seems to be a rather brutal roll-off on the highlights on the flower - is that recoverable, did you shoot raw?
