MFD 2025 – state of the industry and outlook

This is from an architectural photographers personal view - but the longevity, is really under pressure here in 2025, - 7 years ago, the gap between a PO solution and the others where significant, when talking images quality, today not so much... For my professional use I have 3 Alpa's and a...

MFD 2025 – state of the industry and outlook

I'm afraid that they will be tempted to skip the trade in program that we all take for granted because it have always been like that. With the focus on B2B market and the main market for their "normal" backs is now mainly wealthy amateurs in their biggest market - for some of those people it...

Anyone using the HTS on the X2D for tilt/shift?

The Canon 50mm ts-e is very strong performer on the Haselblad together with the other new Canons ts-e and if you have a good copy’s of the 24 and 17mm if you can live with only 12mm of shift a little less for some of the canons due to vignetting. Here is a reply from an other thread with my...

GF 110 TS vs Canon EF 135 TSE ..... anyone with experience on both of these ?

I have both - the 135 is very good, but will start vignetting around 8mm of shift, maybe a bit less on the GFX 100II The 110 is maybe a little more sharp, but only maybe... but will shift 15mm with no loss of detail. The 135 can be a little difficult to focus since the focus ring is way to...

    Old vs new.

I ended up using a Techart tcx 1 - it worked well - before that the Cambo was the only one with aperture control - it worked, but not the most elegant solution and as far as I remember with no metadata in the file as with the Techart. But that said the Fringer for the GFX is in a different league.

    Old vs new.

I have used both lenses a lot and I can confirm that the Fuji 30ts outperforms the Rodie32 in both sharpness and detail, even full open, amazing lens! But quite huge… I think I have used all the wide angles for tech cams from Rodenstock and Schneider in that focal area and the Fuji is overall...

Schneider Super Angulon XL 5,6/38 mm and modern digital backs test.

In my experience when using the Alpa lens correction tool you will notice distortion with the Rodenstock 50mm - it’s very weak below 15mm of shit - so I normal don’t bother using it on images below 15mm of shift - but I always use it on image with more shift. I always use the Alpa tool when...

So, who is buying a Alpa these days?

It can matters when designing the system. The only reason that I didn’t bought the Hasselblad X2D was the lack of a cable release - I asked in forums if there were a workaround, like the one that appeared with the X1D - and, very generally speaking, armatures suggested just to use the phone as...

    Who is the GFX for?

It’s for the photographer who wants to use one of the best (shift) wide angles in existences, the Fuji 30 ts - it’s crazy good, even wide open, full shift - I don’t dare to make an AB shootout with my Rodenstock 32HR, I would like to be in the dream that it outperforms the Fuji - but it’s a...

are they serious? tether options capture one ipad

no, different versions of their data cable, market as thunderbolt 3, if I remember correctly - they worked with canons and X1D, but not the GFX

are they serious? tether options capture one ipad

Capture One on iPad works now with usb-c and GFX 100II and since the last couple of releases actually quite good…. I use it a lot. The key thing is the cable! at least the 100II is extremely picky, some TT‘s works, some don’t, same with Apple’s but the ones that connects is often very slow…...

Fuji GFX Bracketing does not do 16bit

No, just checked, I let the AE bracketing change the exposure and 16bit is possible in in single/1 Frame mode - in continues mode only 14bit is available.

Fuji GFX Bracketing does not do 16bit

I don’t have the camera in front of me right now - but I‘m quit sure that it’s 16bit in single drive and 14bit in continuous drive. initial when setting the camera up, I wanted to use continues drive mode for AEbracketing - I’m used to that from my cannon and Hasselblad kit - and was surprised...

Fuji GFX Bracketing does not do 16bit

I'm bracketing AE, 5 exposures, single drive mode, 16 bit, all day long on a GFX 100II - with a cable release.

New camera from Arca Swiss: the Pico

The placement of the cable release on the 100II is annoying - but on the Smallrig L-bracket you can shift the vertical part out making room for the cable and, important, it have a small bracket that hooks onto the strap eyelet on top of the camera and secured with a small bolt. That little...

What F-Stop range do you use

Sometimes f.22 and f.32 and their diffraction, is your best friend to avoid color and especially patten moiré in certain materials and distances.

Do you long to transition from MFD to LF?

The LF will be way cheaper for quit a lot of motives at least… Together with a good colleague I have over the last year or so collected a a LF kit for architecture around a Linhof Tchnikardan S45, that was very close in being NOS, 6 Schneiders, 47xl, 72xl, 90, 110xl, 150 and 210 all mint and...
