About to buy a GFX100S, need lens advice.

Update after using the 100S. The stabilisation is better, 100% better. I tested hand holding for 1.4 seconds and it was sharp. The camera is smaller than I thought. I can get it plus a spare lens in the small 5 litre sling. Battery life is ok but nothing compared to the OG GFX100. Buy a spare...

    Camera bag for OG GFX100

If anyone finds this from Google, the Think Tank 20 is perfect for the big GFX100. Mine went back as I changes to the 100S and I think the Retrospect 10 will fit that, and the size difference is considerable.

About to buy a GFX100S, need lens advice.

Update to this, trading the GFX100 for the X100S. The size and weight of the camera finally got to me, mainly because I started a new photo project that requires a lot of walking to get to the locations. I also noticed I was being, well, noticed. A lot. I know the 100S isn't exactly small, but...

    Camera bag for OG GFX100

Hi. In looking for a camera bag I can fit the GFX100 plus 80mm 1.7 into. Thats all it has to take. The EVF of course. I’d like a sling type bag, I don’t like backpacks. I was tempted by a courier bag but they aren’t soft or padded inside. I looked at the Peak Design slings the biggest is...

About to buy a GFX100S, need lens advice.

Also had to give in and after 10 years buy a new computer. These files are fat! Some kind of NAS or direct attached storage will be ordered shortly.

About to buy a GFX100S, need lens advice.

After playing more and setting the zoom in to be much closer to the subject, I'm nailing focus. But I'm so slow for now I ordered the 80 1.7 for the AF and will use the manual focus for when I have more time.

I’ve accepted with my eyes this is an f8 lens :) I’ll use the 80 for what I was going to use this 65 for.

About to buy a GFX100S, need lens advice.

Had my first day out with the GFX100 and the Mitakon 65 1.4. Missed focus on every shot. Need to dial in my focus settings, peaking seems to be wrong. Have set it to highest magnification and lowest sensitivity, will see how that impacts things. Shooting on a monopod, really dont want to have to...

    slow day here...

Today it rained. I was in a windowless room all day on Teams calls. I decided to test the "megapixels dont matter" argument by printing an image shot on my OG Canon 5D. Megapixels do matter. IT's slow enough of a day I decided to share the obvious. I'm now going back to Teams calls for another hour.

About to buy a GFX100S, need lens advice.

I've always shot at 35mm on a 35mm, but I think shooting up to 70mm FF equivalent would be useful to help me be more considered and intentful. I always preferred primes until I got my Canon 24-70 2.8 and now it never leaves the 5D. And I really enjoy that range. However I'll stick with just the...

100%. Will be ordering one soon. Ordered the Mitakon 65mm today, seems to be a popular lens so I'll bite. I've been having fun adapting Leica glass onto it. Before I go crazy ordering lenses I need to upgrade my NAS.

An update to this if anyone arrives from Google - the GFX100 V1 is stellar. Big - yes. Heavy - yes. Will you end up upgrading your computer - probably. Will you buy more storage - oh yes! You’ll also want to ensure you have really good SD cards. But the images - wow.

    Photographing in visually complex places.

OK, let's open up a little too much and answer these questions. What has inspired you to transform these locations into a photographic project? - These people are ultimately choosing to evade or hide from general society, they all have the option not to. There decision to live this way is of...

    Photographing in visually complex places.

I’ve been reading a lot of articles today on this during work breaks and I see none of the intent that the authors describe. So I’m taking it as “slow down and think”.

Not rude at all I came looking to improve. Yes, that would be the reason for the shot.

    Photographing in visually complex places.

Hi. I think you answered the question, maybe. Intention - I just took the picture, there was no intent. Maybe that’s the issue. Maybe I’m just not very good 😀 One thing I avoid is tight framing, I don’t like to be in close I like to show the surroundings. Or, I like to be very close. But not...

    Photographing in visually complex places.

Hi. I am struggling to make photographs that aren’t terrible, and one of the repeating themes is a point of focus in the image. Or more accurately no one point of focus. I’m working on a photo project that focusses on three locations and the people that are in these locations, and they are all...
