Protection from what? Dropping? The Copal shutters will be compromised/decentered before any filter glass is shattered to take the blow. Not sure how Aperture only or the X-shutter would fare Water/Spray from waterfalls? Not much protection for the rest of the lens. Sandstorm? Filters would help...

Fuji GFX 100s: Blurred image parts

Atmospheric issues are well-known among the long-lens bird photography community(500-800mm, even more pronounced with a 1.4x or 2x TC). Whenever there is a large surface that is warmer than the air above (even at near-freezing temperatures), you will see random blurred areas. Looking at the...

    Fun with MF images 2025

I agree - as Charlie Cramer would say* -- it lacks just one thing, followed by placing his thumb over the corner to cover the distraction. He says to watch out for little triangles at the corners of images..... Don * I heard Charlie say and demonstrate often on students prints at one of his...

Yellowstone Wildlife Captured with the Fujifilm GF500mm Lens

It is, especially for landscape and slow-moving mammals! However, the limited FPS of the GPX100ii cannot keep up with bird photography. For that I use a Sony A1ii with Sony GM 600mm/400mm. This works for not only birds-on-a-stick but also for flight photos. Of course, the Sony isn't medium...

30ft Tether Cable for Phase One IQ4 150

I have not used this cable for the IQ4150, but have used it for other remote USB applications. These cables work well. Likely, the IQ4150 does not send voltage/current down the output USB cable, which is required to power the remote repeaters on the USB cable. The P1 limitation of 15 feet is...

30ft Tether Cable for Phase One IQ4 150

And there are longer ones with multiple repeaters in the cable, for instance this 33 foot version (and they offer up to 100 ft) << note you will have to convert to the older USB to/from this longer cable to get the new USB-c...

    Lens Correctors on Rodenstock 28mm 35mm, 60mm, 100mm, and 180mm for film

Per Rod Klukas, the ones I mention in the post are the only ones that require a film corrector. So the 23 does not require one. Don

    Lens Correctors on Rodenstock 28mm 35mm, 60mm, 100mm, and 180mm for film

I received my copy of the Rodenstock Apo-Sironar HR 60mm today (It is identical to the Rodenstock HR Digaron-S 60mm except for different text on the barrel) I was surprised to see a " E40.5 Corrector Filter" attached to the rear threads. What is this? Contacting a friend, Rod Klukas, who is the...

    Keeping your Pico Bellows safe

Concerned about keeping the Pico Bellows from getting crimped between uses, I asked a friend about how to do this. Rod Klukas shared that he uses a 8mm film can. Its available from BHphoto and perhaps elsewhere as well. For $USD 12.50, you will receive a Yankee Reel and Can for 400 foot roll of...

    Digaron-S HR 4/60 mm on 33x44 sensor like Fuji GFX100, hasselblad 907x100S, XD2

lets not forget for those not using Alpa or Rm3Di -- there are good cameras that mount such a lens with just a simple lens board and no helicals. For example the new Pico, and the Techno both use inexpensive lens boards.

    Digaron-S HR 4/60 mm on 33x44 sensor like Fuji GFX100, hasselblad 907x100S, XD2

IF anyone is looking for a 60mm -- note that Rodenstock literature says this is rebranded later to Digaron-S 60mm. Brand new! Copal Mounted! (I have no affiliation with BMI)...

Pico with Schneider 180T follow up

If you want black flocked inner lining - do a search for what the astronomers use inside their telescope tubes. Its glue backed and works well. Amazon sells it. Victor - can you please list the parts you used for this. I will also build one. thanks Don
