FIRST SNOWFALL LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ

The title says it all. First: NO PICTURES (YET)! We live on a summer resort barrier island. Not many people here off season. Snow is not rare here, but the last several years we have had none, or very little. So today we got about 4" to 5". I dislike driving in snow, but I love doing photography...

First Snow on Long Beach Island, NJ

Hey Darr, great idea. I used to use HDR from time to time, I may try it in tricky exposure situations. Dave

    Fun with Sony Cameras 2024

Two extremes: One image made with 12~24mm lens, other made with 400mm lens, hand held at 1/60 sec f13. Both the lens and camera body have image stabilization. The hand held 400mm shot is razor sharp when blown up on screen at actual size. Modern technology is amazing. Dave in NJ

Fringer Pentax P645-GFX auto focus adapter

I just received the adapter, have not tried it yet. The user manual (small as it is) recommends NOT allowing the camera to select the shutter speed. I am a seascape/landscape guy and usually shoot at f11 to f16. I mostly use Aperture Preferred Automatic on the camera. I set the F stop, select...

Pentax 645 auto focus lenses adapted to GFX 100S

I use DXO Photolab 8 to process my raw images. One of its features is that it has modules to automatically correct lens flaws such as pin cushion, barrel distortion ( or combinations of these). I purchased a Pentax FA 400 mm lens to use on my GFX 100S that I will use with a Fringer auto focus...

Anyone have Pentax 645 FA 300mm f.6 lens? Need dimensions

Yes, that is the lens in question. Dave

Anyone own the Pentax 645 FA 300mm f5.6 lens - need dimensions

I just ordered a used lens from Japan and it will ship to NJ. In advance of it getting here can anyone measure the lens barrel diameter near the mount? I would like to retrofit a third party or another lens maker's rotating tripod collar. I will be using this lens with a Fringer auto focus...

Anyone Using Ipower for web site hosting?

I am very happy to report my web site is now "SAFE". Also my web site email now works (no thanks to Ipage). I FINALLY got to Instant Chat by doing the following: I went to the Financial Section, changed from automatic billing, and deleted my Credit Card on file with them. Their site kept warning...

Anyone Using Ipower for web site hosting?

A month ago I received a notice my web site was not secure. Apparently Ipower (I have been with them for many years) sold to Ipage. I paid $112.35 on Sept 21 to ipage to have it made secure (it gets http// added to the site apparently). I was OK until today, and now if you try to go to my site...

    Cloud Storage for Senior Citizen

Thanks for the reply. Perhaps I am being too "scary" about both external drives failing at the same time. Perhaps what I am now doing is good enough for a retired amateur photographer. I must admit, I do not photograph as much as I once did. Dave

    Cloud Storage for Senior Citizen

Greetings all. I have been seriously involved in photography since 1959 when I built my first darkroom. My thousands of early images have the ultimate backup, the original negatives. At first I scanned my negs with a high end dedicated film scanner, then I switched to digital capture about 20 or...

Right Clicking Photo Files to open does not allow me to select latest Photoshop

Thanks Victor, I have tried everything. As a last resort, I could open Photoshop and leave it running and minimize it. Then if I want to look at a photo file, instead of double clicking it, I would have to maximize Photoshop to full screen, and open the file from there. That is giving up in...

Right Clicking Photo Files to open does not allow me to select latest Photoshop

I have Photoshop 2024 installed as well as several non subscription versions CS5 32 Bit, CS5 64 Bit, CS6 32 Bit and CS6 64 Bit. The CS6 64Bit became corrupted and would lock up my PC. I was able to re-download CS6 and re-install it along with many Legacy Plug-Ins, but the old CS6 still haunts...

Fun with Medium Format FILM Images!

Sorry for the double images. The Forum kept denying me access to posting saying the file was too large. It posts OK on Getdpi, Fred Miranda, and Luminous Landscape, but not here, so the images have been "dumbed down" and may not show the amazing difference in the faces before and after Topaz. Dave

Fun with Medium Format FILM Images!

Enclosed are images that started out about 62 years ago. Subject is our oldest son, now 65 and retired. I was very involved in Camera Clubs and the PSA Salons. In both instances the exhibitor had to make their own prints. I used a Hasselblad 500C with 80mm Planar and Kodacolor Negative film. I...
