I have come across several oblique references to a perhaps lost tribal art known as "battery shaving" that was apprently used in ancient times (about a decade ago) in order to fit cheaper non-OEM batteries into expensive MF digital backs and cameras, but when I google "battery shaving" all I get is photos of young guys admiring their chins in their bathroom mirrors, apart from this thread. Perhaps I am using the wrong search terms?

I did this with a few BP915 batteries awhile ago, I recall it wasn't super hard to do, the plastic on most batteries is really soft. I used a pocket knife to make the battery less thick, shaving the plastic from the side with the round sides until it fit smoothly. The fit was already really close, just too tight so I didn't do too much shaving.
If you are looking for BP915 batteries though I'd recommend anything but the watson's, those where the only ones I needed to shave.
Thanks for this very useful reply. Happy to hear that it can be done. I also already have a couple of batteries that are useable but (too) close fit for my legacy eMotion75 MFDB - they can most likely slot in but I am scared that the fit is so tight I might not be able to get them out again o-: So I will suck in my breath and have a go at shaving one of them. How thick do you guesstimate the plastic casing is?
