How about more and more fun with Canon...

I'm really enjoying Giovanni's images taken with the 5DS R and various Canon lenses (including one of my favorites, the very compact 70-200 f4L).

I recently purchased a Canon 400mm f5.6L lens that I've often thought about getting, but always hesitated because it doesn't have optical image stabilization. I often prefer to shoot without a tripod. Now that I have a Canon mirrorless camera (the R5) with IBIS, when a mint condition lens for just $500 appeared in the display case at our local camera shop, I didn't hesitate.

I also love tele landscapes. I've had so much fun with the 70-200 IS that I purchased a 70-300 to have the longer reach. It's so much heavier but still hand-holdable to ridiculously low shutter speeds.

I’m often amazed at the sharpness of photos taken with long telephoto lenses in the pre-digital, pre-IS era by some photographers. I never had the skill to achieve similar results consistently, so I’m very thankful for optical IS and especially IBIS. I still really prefer shooting at low ISO, as much as I can.

Here is another photo I took with the 400/5.6L lens and R5 of a mountain near my home in Eagle River valley. These mountains are part of the Chugach range in Alaska.
For this monochrome conversion I applied a blue filter in SilverEfex Pro to lighten the sky and shadows.

I've made prints of both mountain images for an upcoming B&W print exchange.
