The full moon was on Sunday, the "Corn Blood Moon" ... last full moon of Summer and the Full Moon in Pisces. By Tuesday night it had begun waning and high clouds were whipping through the sky. I quickly assembled my camera plus long long lens, and mounted it on the tripod ... and caught this photo of the Moon with clouds surrounding and flying past it:

From Wikipedia:
Cruquius is thought to be the largest steam engine – and certainly the largest beam engine – ever built.
The engine was built by Harvey & Co, of Hayle, Cornwall.
It is an annular-compound steam engine, with two cylinders (one within the other).
The diameter of the inner (High Pressure) cylinder is 84 inches (2.1 m); the diameter of the outer (Low Pressure) annular cylinder is 144 inches (3.7 m).

I've been to the pumping engine station at Kew Gardens several times. They have one of the engines running demonstrations on the weekend, and it's magnificent in operation. I believe the one that's running is a 90 inch bore. It is just amazing thing to see it fire up and, all of a sudden, lift 10 tons of water up 20 feet as if it was nothing...

It's a impressive place. So far, I've only seen it from the outside and a more thorough visit is still on my bucket list. I'll be in the Netherlands next week so maybe this time.

The Jupiter 2/85 is a nice lens. I own one in M42 mount and enjoy using it from time to time. Classic rendering!
