I figure that most of my shooting will be without a tripod, but I want to be able to take evening and night shots at times, and that's where the tripod comes in. Plus, the night shots are the ideal time to be shooting HDR, so a tripod becomes doubly useful.
I was looking at the small-ish Benro travel angel tripods (TRCB169 or TRCB168 maybe) as a good really lightweight option. The Feisol 3441 looks interesting as well, and I think better-built.
I can't justify a 'real' tripod (I have those, but they are too big and heavy for this kind of travel).
