Has anyone confirmed what the max sync speed is with either setup?
Mr. "hot" speed tests give you the answers.
I got same sync speeds with my mod.

Are you thinking of modifying the evf to have a pc sync port??I got mine in yesterday, works as advertised which is nice, although having the pinout I may try and modify my viewfinder to add a shoe/sync port on top of it...
Nice! But a very expensive accessory to mod Don't want to break it.correct, but I'll have to see if I will use the viewfinder enough to merit this. I've had a loaner nex-7 for the past couple weeks and I have had a few occasions where it was handy to use so we'll see.
This option isn't available on the NEX-5. It was new in the 5N.update: I have noticed the fit on the msa-10 is alot tighter on my 5n than on my 5. On the 5, the connection is still tight, but it seems heavy top heavy flashes like the 580 ex mounted. On the 5n, there is no movement using the 580 ex.
Also, I am having issues finding the option for live viewfinder not showing actual exposure on the 5, so the display seems dark alot of the time. This option is easily found in the setup menu in the 5n, and hence viewfinder is continuous bright, even with higher shutter speed selected in M mode
Got the MSA-10 today, unfortunately it is useless on the 5 for this reason. Also, I am having issues finding the option for live viewfinder not showing actual exposure on the 5, so the display seems dark alot of the time.
