Somebody finally ban this troll. On DPReview he was banned already I understand...

...Techtalk again derailing a thread.
I've never been banned from any forum in which I've participated. I state my point of view without engaging in personal attacks on people. That includes the other people who participate in forums and the people who make products I use or don't use.

I've also never called for anyone to be banned from a forum whether I agree or disagree with their viewpoint. There's little point in a forum where different viewpoints aren't encouraged and supported.

..,
If one reports the issue here its not useful to have a Hasselblad fan derail the whole discussion with super transparent and pointless comments trying to diffuse the matter at hand.
The only sensible mechanism for feedback is to report the issue to your Hasselblad dealer, and to Hasselblad Customer Service/Marketing for redress, and to return the purchased items ss unsuitable for purpose. Getting up on your high horse and bellyaching on a specialist forum isn't a very useful form of communications. Never mind that several other tech cam users publishing their works through YouTube and other channels have lauded the product as superb.

My last words here.

We continue going nowhere on the last pages. The issue exists, as has been proven, and it seems to very much matter to many of us shooting this back on a tech cam. That won’t change until Hasselblad fixes it.

All the relevant channels have been used by most of us (contacting HB directly and via dealer), and if someone hasn’t done it, please do so.

If you're an Alpa user, you may wish to contact them. Alpa states in their short CFV 100C video: "We have tested various lenses from our portfolio." On the Alpa CFV 100C webpage they offer to answer compatibility questions: "With the announcement of the release of Hasselblad CFV 100C we knew that we wanted to get hands on this new digital back in order to test it in combination with our ALPA cameras."

"We hope we can answer all your questions about this amazing new product from Hasselblad and compatibility to ALPA cameras. If you have questions, please send an email to [email protected]"

I don't really see much difference between this and the issue with the non-working USB port on IQ backs. Just don't remember people back then going on about the product 'not working as advertised'. P1 fixed it (eventually...), and I'm sure HB will do the same. And for those who want to resolve it 100% (not 90%), just use ART or Diggles' workflow for the time being.

But I agree, it's really a wrap until HB step up.

Please excuse the interruption of the discussion,
I am only interested in technical facts at the moment.
Is there a problem using the new Hasselblad back with the Rodenstock 23mm and the 32mm?
Based on this answer I can decide whether I should test the new back at all or not.
Thanks,

That may depend on who you ask, which lenses they've actually used, and how they used them. For that reason, I would want to personally try whatever combinations I was interested in by photographing a variety of subject matter representative of my intended use.

Below are links to what Ian Atkinson said regarding his recent use of the CFV 100C with the: "23mm Rodenstock HR Digaron S, 40mm Rodenstock, 50mm Rodenstock all HRW and... the 38mm Schnieder XL". Whether or how his recent experience may apply to your needs, you can decide.

Ah, ok thanks.
So there are clearly problems, even with the Rodenstocks.
So this back is of no interest to me for the time being.
Maybe later on...

...or maybe not. What others prefer for their needs may not work for you. It's always good to have a variety of choices.

Remember the Canon 1D mark III? It had an AF issue which, given its role as a sports/action camera, was quite a problem - the magnitude of which was reflected in the resale value of the camera, even when fairly new. Has the Hassy back suffered similarly? I firmly do NOT believe in the efficient market hypothesis, but it would be an interesting data point for how seriously the market perceives this problem.

Speaking of market issues, has anyone been unable to return the back for a full refund after finding that the problem made it unusable (or not worth it)? The X2D was missing a few features at launch that made it much less usable for me, but I violated Grayson's First Rule of Camera Purchases (Don't EVER make a purchase thinking that a feature will be added later or a bug will be fixed. The only camera that exists is the one you can hold in your hand today.) I was lucky.

That is a very good law. Now if you had nine more like that... ;)

But seriously, you are absolutely right.

Two more come to mind...

Dante's Law - Buy new gear. It will encourage you to take more pictures and that will make you a better photographer.

Second Law of Thermodynamics, GAS edition - Selling old equipment to buy new equipment is inevitably a net loss. I.e., the total amount spent on camera equipment always increases.

I can confirm I can see the PDAF lines when using the Rodenstock 32mm HR unshifted on the CFV-100c. Attaching a sample of the sky, converted to B&W in LR with some sliders increased to make it clearly visible here. Will it ruin what I want to do until hopefully Hasselblad provides a fix? Not sure, especially if I can use the tricks already mentioned to make it much less visible or not visible at all. In the meantime, does anyone have the best email contacts for Hasselblad and Alpa just to add my data points?

Thanks

Are these lines visible in other areas beside a continuous tone area like a sky? Are they visible without an extreme shift in the clarity slider? The only samples I have seen involved a sky.

I only just started using this combination yesterday and have not noticed the lines in areas other than the sky. It didn't take extreme shifts in the sliders to see it after converting the photo to black and white - I just wanted to make sure it came through in the small screenshot I posted.

It came through in your small screen shot .(y)
I used PS 25.5.1 and also ON1 PHOTO RAW 2023 and could make the lines very well visible .
