Lighting a Large Group

When lighting a large group of people the people in the back tend to be darker than those in the front.
Whats the best way to get the proper even lighting for the entire group? I use a Large softbox 42' and Strobe ( The Badger)

Set your main at 12 o'clock above the camera. Set Main high enough and tilt the light/modifier to feather the light to the back. Larger 60" umbrellas are ideal here. If needed, you can put two light sources close to each other (feather and tilt to meter the edges of the group) and they will essentially become a single light source.

When putting the lights together are they faced straight ahead? Shoot through Umbrellas or Softboxes? Ty

How the lights are angled when placed together (to form a "larger single source) depends on the size of the group and the size of your modifiers. You won't need to fiddle as much with larger light sources and modifiers. Meter from edge to edge and aim for fairly even exposure across the group, and front to back. Good old fashioned umbrellas (reflected bounce or shoot through) will work better than softboxes for large groups.
