@algrove , yes I agree, I had the DR version but that didn't work on my M246M so I exchanged it for a similar vintage (and optically identical) rigid version.
nifty-fifty wise I now have three options, an Elmar 50/3.5 from 1949 for a sharp but vintage look, this 50/2 for a smooth rendering and a Elmar 50/2.8 "reissue" from 2001 for a modern shap look. Now I'm only lusting after a 1.1 or 1.2 50 mm lens, which will probably be a Voigtländer but haven't made my final choice yet.

I didn't wait, got a good deal on a Voigtländer Nokton 50/1.2. Still testing but so far I'm very happy with the sharpness and rendering
