A walkabout with the new X100VI at Upper Treman state park. Gorge trail is still closed so we just poked around the mill area.

The "Old Mill"

Underneath the back end of the Mill house looking towards Fishkill Creek that once provide power for the mill.

A couple of old mill stones that were used for grinding corn and grain,

Fishkilll Creek I fogot that this camera has a built-in ND filter that I could have engaged to blur the water.

Along the creek below the mill. Looks like some fossils in that gray piece of bedrock slipping out below the shallow soil,

Yes, fossils in that piece of rock in the last image. 4x enlargement below. Nothing unusual here in the shale and limestone deposits from the Devonian era. Crinoids?

Hi, does anyone here have the Fuji prime 8mm F3.5 WR? If so, can you (please) post some photos with it? Thanks in advance.

Please check out the “Mount Fuji Active’ thread, Ricardo.
Last year I’ve posted there a few shots.

Kind regards.

I’m waiting for the secondhand cheap 16-50 XC just for af and ois. For now I’m going to test the trusty Adaptall 2 17A. Nice to see Fuji crowd.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have to say when I was in France & Quebec I was really feeling I made a mistake. Now I am starting to see some new possibilities.. and it was precisely last night that an area I have done for so long, looked a bit different. There's def. a learning curve shooting ultra wide and how to make a story or make things interesting.

Shooting UWA lenses is very very challenging IMO. For street you have to be standing right in the middle of the crowd and for architecture keeping lines straight (w/o tripod) is whole a different exercise. Not to mention the endless empty foregrounds.
Anyway, very demanding and a steep learning curve to get acceptable results.
But fun it is !

Thing is, modifying the perspective can yield from what I see some also interesting results. But it's how you make it all work right? Composition -wise with those lines... and what effect. I find it's very expressive now but it's also very easy to screw it up.
