So went to an official Fuji event today at San Jose Camera. They had the new cameras, and I was able to play with pre-production firmware X-T50 and their new medium format. I came with my X-E4 + XF27 lens to check it out.
Some notes:
- I was able to do IBIS reliably at ~5 stops with the XF50 F2.0. This was 1/2 a second shots.
- AF is as I expected, fast.
- Face detect was pretty accurate with the following notes/caveats.
There's been a discussion on face detect + AF where
1) The camera would focus on someone's chin and not the eye, even when it shows eye detect if the camera is say below a person at an angle where the chin is closer - I could not re-create this issue on the X-T50
2) The camera focusing on your hand or something closer even though it detected an eye/face, if it covers part of the face. I could reproduce this one near 100%.
It was agreed this was a bit odd and it will be apparently looked into.
Generally speaking, for my street work this doesn't affect me as subjects are a bit further away from me or the face in full view.
- The FILM Sim dial effectively does not store JPEG settings on each position. But when you set the JPEG settings it applies to all film sims you can dial (I already knew this from discussion/videos but confirmed it)
Two other customers also mentioned (besides me), independently no less- they want Fuji to store film sim settings independently per film, or at least for the FS1/FS2/FS3 customizable film slots.
One of the Fuji representatives was very receptive to this, and will bring the feedback back - he said.
- The camera is definitively smaller, looks and feels smaller than the X-T5. If you put a lot of weight on small, you may want to get this one over the X-T5 even if you hate the film sim dial, unless you are truly changing drive modes very often.
- The camera did seem on a very subjective level "ok, this is a bit bigger than the X-T30/X-T20/X-T10" by a bit. I can feel it. But it also is decidedly smaller than the X-T5. The design of the curves as it goes to the top make sit seem smaller than it is from some angles.
- Hard to explain but the buttons felt somewhat higher quality than I expect from the bodies of X-Txx I have used before.
We were joking that if we pre-ordered today, we may be able to get it by Christmas

Two customers were very interested in either the X-T50 or the X100VI (they had a sample). Both are Sony FF owners/main cameras (one of them had his Sony camera with him).
Playing with the new GFX100S II a bit... the camera was able to recognize face and eye detect well and fast, but the focusing itself is notably slower than the X-T50 or even the X100VI. Seemed accurate though.
I can't see myself focusing with that camera on the street but for studio work seems fine. Too big for me obviously, but it sure looks and feels pro.
