GFX 100II won't trigger flash when HC lens attached

Thanks for the heads up. It will take many more complaints before they work on a fix—right now they probably think just a couple people don't know how to use a flash correctly. So this camera sits in a box for now which kills me because I like everything else about it.

I think you are overestimating the general public's interest in a handful of nerds can't get their photographic strobe to trigger on a GFX 100 II utilizing the GF to H mount adapter and leaf shutter on their HC lenses for high speed sync speeds.

There is a new firmware (2.10) for GFX 100II, but unfortunately it does not solve this issue....

Still not working. Quite a shame for a company to still announce the mount adapter as compatible with the new cameras:

Some decency would require to fix this bug, or at least to caution unaware potential customers...

Because of what I can only assume is limited experience with professional strobes, the techs at Fuji cannot replicate the issue even with what I thought was pretty good instructions. I surmise that they are attaching a small speed light type flash to test the issue, putting it at 100% power and then running the test. A small speed light type flash at 100% is so weak that the speed light will just increase the flash duration to get "high" output. The long duration will make it appear as though the whole setup is working properly as "some" of the flash output will show up on the image since the duration is so long. Running a small speed light type flash on "high" output is basically making a continuous light source. Unless someone goes to their facility and shows them the issue (and how to properly test), this will probably never be fixed.

You are too kind with Fuji. They do not even need a flash to test this, just to check the sync port on the camera. It triggers when the shutter is assigned to the body, does not work when the shutter is set to the lens.

I agree...its such a shame. They don't seem to care. And actually this is the biggest deal breaker for me to move from GFX 50S II to GFX 100 II. Much as I love the 100 II's EVF, I cannot work without fast flash sync on my workhorse HC 4/120 Macro lens.

@BFD Found this thread while searching for others having the same issue. I wrote to Fuji at the email address you provided, I'll report back if I learn anything new. Considering getting an older body GFX just to use with the leaf shutter H lenses, sadly.

I have switched to Leica because of this issue. H adapter on the S works with autofocus, a small bonus, but I’ll take that.

Hi everyone, writing with an update from Fuji, as I've been able to speak to Dan H in their US office to troubleshoot this issue. They were able to replicate what we've all been experiencing with the inability to sync with the Hasselblad H adapter on the 100 GFX II. They are now speaking to their corporate office/engineers to see what they say. Here's what they told me:

I just wanted to update you on my findings so far before we submit them to corporate. We have tested the GFX 100ii, GFX 10sii, GFX 50sii, and GFX 100, all with the most recent firmware, with the same wireless flash trigger and flash (fujifilm ef-60 flash and fujifilm we-1 trigger). The GFX 100 ii and GFX 100sii preformed the same as you have reported. They seem to not actually take into account the in lens shutter at all when using flash. On the GFX 100 and the GFX 50sii the camera limits the shutter speed to 800th of a second when changed to in lens shutter mode and syncs correctly with flash up to that shutter speed.

Nice! This is huge. You must have done a better job than me on explaining the issue. Or Dan H is smarter than Rich B (the guy I dealt with)—LOL.
