By the time I got to my third 23 (don’t ask) on the XT, I found myself never using the CF. Whether the C1 lens profile is just better at correcting for the 23 than it once was, or I simply like the curve of the falloff, I don’t know. You may love the CF. It’s not about the shift. The lens has a strong vignetting on a full frame back - that’s why there’s a CF from Rodenstock for it.I don’t have a problem with the vignetting while shooting with no movements. I don’t have the CF. And the 23 has a rather small IC, and anything more than a 2mm shift either on X or Y will cause heavy vignetting. I think its ok with zero shift
Yeah, I’m okay with the natural vignetting, and yes, it is pretty strong. I’ll often play with the light falloff slider—and you’re correct about the inconsistency of the noise floor when one doesn’t have a CF—but more often than not, I only do a modest light falloff correction, if at all. So much depends on the composition. If my subject is completely static, I’ll take the time to get several frames with the 32 and then stitch them. But if, as was the case at the Sundial Bridge above, I want the whole thing in a single shot, well, the 23 is the 23. And in that particular shot, vignetting was hardly a problem.You like it? You’ve inspired me . I haven’t shot with my Perkeo in quite a while. Time to remediate that.I pulled out my sweet old Voigtländer Perkeo II yesterday and loaded it up with a roll of Washi film ... orthochromatic emulsion on thin Japanese rice paper for those unfamiliar. Another adventure to enjoy.
Sadly, I noted that my Perkeo II has developed a fault: the mechanical frame counter has the red "end of roll" flag covering the frame number and it doesn't seem to want to go away. Luckily, the frame limiter and shutter cocking, shutter release, and all the shutter and such seem to be working fine, and I can peek at the film backing if I forget what frame I'm on, just look for the number. But ugh, another camera off to service in a week or three.
Happily, or maybe abashedly, there are plenty more to use while the current five out for service are being tended to, and that won't change when I send the Perkeo II out...

At one time it was a Columbarium after the Coast Guard sold it off. There are still at least three urns with ashes inside. Almost impossible to access as the Sea Lions have taken over the propertyTillamook Lighthouse from Ecola State Park in northern Oregon near Cannon Beach and Seaside has been standing tall since 1881. Nicknamed Terrible Tilly for all the tragedy it has been a part of going all the back to its pre-construction when a master mason surveying the location was swept out to sea. It was formally closed in 1951, but is still very much a part of the landscape today.
