Ilford does a yearly ultra large format run and you can order fp4+, hp5+ and delta100 pretty much in any format (it’a super expensive though)

Cheaper alternatives are shanghai gp3 (that is really orwo) but it’s temporarily discontinued. An even cheaper alternative is xray film, I used it a lot in the past and it’s perfect for contact printing if handled and processed correctly.

Years and years ago, when I was in high school, I had occasion to use the Photo Staff's ancient 4x5 Speed Graphic now and then. That was fun, but my large-camera real joy was on the very rare occasions when I could borrow my grandfather's ~1953 Linhof Technika 23 ... That was such a beautifully made, precise, and flexible piece of machinery! He had the complete kit with all three lenses and matched rangefinder cam, both sheet and roll film backs, etc. I've often considered hunting for one on the used market...

Do it! The really nice thing about Linhof is that they are still servicing many of their cameras. Patience is required though.

What's special about the Ilford program is that it allows ordering these less common sizes in small quantities, rather than the multi-thousand-dollar minimum that would apply otherwise for a special cut. The program arose after the Ilford bankruptcy and reorganization in 2005. The new management discontinued the prior practice of selling master rolls to third-party finishers, who were not only supplying the demand for odd sizes but were in effect competing with them on standard sizes. A number of users of these less common sizes got in touch with the new Harman Technology company to explain the impact of this move. To their great credit, the Harman team came up with this program to serve the need. It's hard to imagine they make much money on it - it's a small niche within the sheet film market, which is itself a small niche within the B&W film market, which is itself a pretty small market overall - but it certainly buys them a lot of goodwill in the community.

Keith Canham serves as an aggregator for special orders of Kodak film in non-stock sizes. But there is no regular schedule, and because he is required to meet Kodak's steep minimum order quantity, in practice a much narrower range of sizes ends up getting made.

My restoration of the Pacemaker Speed Graphic I was given is mostly complete. This thing was in bad shape and was going to be thrown away. Mold, corrosion, spiderwebs you name it. Stripped it down, cleaned, scraped, washed, painted and didn't even have any parts left over and it is functional ;)

The original hand strap was shot and I need to make a leather one for it, but in the mean time, I added the dovetail wood hand grip and sort of like it. Still need to do a little tweaking on the rangefinder to align the overlay patch. Distance and vertical is good, but horizontal is still a little off.

I was thinking of using a black leather dye on the camera leather but decided to just go with a good saddle soap cleaning and polish and let the patina from years of use and abuse shine through.

Same with the tripod. Good cleaning and polish, replaced some missing screws and replace the worn out brown felt from the tripod bed with some black felt we had at the house.

Now time to get out and use it. Total cost of parts about $5. Not bad price for a "new" camera :D

Taken with the CFV 100C on Cambo Actus with a Nikkor H·C 75mm f/2.8 for Bronica lens on a modified lens plate. Yes I have an itch to use weird combinations. Will post that in Behind the Scenes thread.

I have many 4x5 monorail and field/techical/folding view cameras. This view camera is a bit different. The Shen Hao TFC617-A, a non-folding 6x17 format with a 120 roll film back, so strickly speaking, perhaps not large format.
